Le drapeau du Mexique est le symbole national le plus important de cette république américaine. Il est composé de trois bandes verticales de taille égale, de couleur verte, blanche et rouge. Au centre de la bande blanche sont imposés les armoiries du pays, composées d'un aigle sur un cactus dévorant un serpent.
Les pavillons de l'histoire du Mexique ont une origine très ancienne. Des symboles existaient déjà à l'époque préhispanique pour identifier l'empire mexicain, mais des drapeaux conventionnels ont été établis avec les Espagnols. Ce n'est qu'à l'indépendance que le Mexique a connu ses propres drapeaux, qui ont émergé pour identifier les nouvelles armées.

Les premiers symboles étaient des pavillons avec la Vierge de Guadalupe. Plus tard, l'image qui a toujours accompagné le drapeau a été incorporée: l'aigle dévorant le serpent sur le nopal. L'origine du drapeau tricolore aurait surgi à travers les armées insurgées du sud du Mexique et cela a été consolidé avec le drapeau de l'armée Trigarante.
Pendant de nombreuses années, le drapeau mexicain n'avait pas de réglementation claire, ce qui laissait ses caractéristiques d'utilisation ouvertes. Le vert est lié à l'espoir, le blanc à l'unité et le rouge au sang versé par le Mexique.
Histoire du drapeau
Le Mexique a une histoire riche, marquée par ses civilisations préhispaniques. On estime que le territoire est peuplé depuis plus de 20 mille ans. L'évolution a été graduelle jusqu'à ce que l'agriculture consolide différentes civilisations dans diverses régions du Mexique actuel. Le maïs était son principal produit depuis le 5e millénaire avant notre ère. C. Bien que ce ne soit pas d'une manière conventionnelle, l'utilisation des drapeaux provient déjà des civilisations autochtones.
- Symboles préhispaniques
Bien qu'il y ait eu de grandes civilisations telles que les Olmèques, les Toltèques et les Mayas, les premiers symboles représentatifs d'un État qui sont connus aujourd'hui étaient de l'empire mexicain. En fait, voici aussi l'origine du bouclier du Mexique, avec l'aigle perché sur le nopal.
Le Mexica a déménagé d'Aztlán vers la vallée du Mexique. Dans cet endroit, pour l'année 1325 ils fondèrent México-Tenochtitlan. Le choix du site était dû au fait que le dieu Huitzilopochtli avait indiqué que la terre promise serait un îlot où se trouvait un cactus, sur lequel se percherait un aigle dévorant un serpent.
C'est là que la capitale a été établie car, selon la légende, on avait retrouvé ce que le dieu avait promis.
Topoglyphes de la vallée du Mexique
Cette image représentative du mythe fondateur du Mexique est celle qui existe aujourd'hui sur le bouclier national du pays, également présent sur le drapeau. Cependant, Mexico-Tenochtitlan a conservé quelques premiers symboles nationaux. Plus précisément, un topoglyphe les a identifiés. Cela consistait en un symbole avec un cactus né du sol, montrant ses fruits.

Au nord de Mexico-Tenochtitlan a été établie la ville de Mexico-Tlatelolco, également dans la vallée du Mexique. Celui-ci a été fondé par une autre tribu Mexica qui s'était séparée et avait fondé sa propre ville sur quelques îlots au nord. Dans ce cas, son topoglyphe montrait la terre émergeant à travers un demi-cercle.

- Colonisation espagnole
Le pouvoir indigène dans la région a été diminué après le début de la conquête par les Espagnols. Tenochtitlan est tombé en 1521 après une bataille de trois ans contre la puissance espagnole. Quatorze ans plus tard, la vice-royauté de Nouvelle-Espagne a été fondée.
La vice-royauté est rapidement devenue l'une des entités les plus importantes de l'Empire espagnol. Cela était dû à la découverte de gisements miniers à proximité de la vallée du Mexique, ainsi qu'à la facilité de cultiver des terres agricoles déjà utilisées par les cultures autochtones.
En premier lieu, dans les colonies espagnoles d'Amérique, le drapeau de la Croix de Bourgogne a été utilisé. Il s'agissait d'un tissu blanc sur lequel était imposée une croix en pointillés en forme de X rouge. L'Empire espagnol n'avait pas de drapeau officiel, mais utilisait à la place différents insignes navals.

Nouveaux symboles Bourbon
La vice-royauté de la Nouvelle-Espagne a maintenu la croix de Bourgogne comme son insigne distinctif. Cependant, en 1701, un nouveau drapeau naval espagnol a été créé, avec deux versions: gala et simplifié. Ce changement était dû au fait qu'en Espagne une nouvelle dynastie prit le trône: la Maison de Bourbon, qui garda le blanc comme couleur dynastique.
Le pavillon naval de gala était constitué d'un drap blanc devant lequel les armes royales étaient imposées sur le côté gauche. Celles-ci étaient entourées d'une toison et ornées de rubans rouges.
Le bouclier a conservé les symboles de tous les royaumes espagnols, tels que Castille, Aragon, Sicile, en plus des symboles de la maison de Bourbon-Anjou, avec la fleur de lis.

La version simplifiée de ce drapeau n'a laissé que les armoiries d'Aragon et de Castille et a changé la couleur des rubans en bleu.

L'arrivée au trône du roi Carlos III en 1760 impliqua un changement du drapeau et du bouclier. Dans ce cas, les armes des différents royaumes Bourbon étaient concentrées dans deux structures ovales.

Création du drapeau espagnol
La couleur blanche n'était pas exclusive à l'Espagne, car la dynastie des Bourbons régnait également dans d'autres régions d'Europe. De plus, d'autres royaumes utilisaient également la couleur blanche, il était donc très difficile pour les navires espagnols de maintenir un drapeau de cette couleur. Compte tenu de cela, le roi Carlos III a décidé de créer de nouveaux drapeaux en 1785.
Deux modèles ont été présentés: l'un pour la marine marchande et l'autre comme drapeau de guerre, qui est finalement devenu un drapeau national. Les deux incorporaient des couleurs jaune et rouge, qui étaient utiles en raison du contraste dans l'utilisation des navires de mer. Ce symbole comprenait une version simplifiée du bouclier sur le côté gauche de la bande jaune.

Depuis 1793, le drapeau de guerre a commencé à être utilisé dans les ports espagnols et a même été adopté par les Cortes de Cadix lors de la rédaction de la constitution parlementaire connue sous le nom de "La Pepa" en 1812. Cela a également influencé les dernières années de la domination coloniale espagnole en Amérique.
- Indépendance du Mexique
Les premières décennies du XIXe siècle marquent le début des mouvements d'indépendance en Amérique hispanique, dans le cadre de l'invasion française de l'Espagne. Le Mexique fit de même en 1810 et l'un de ses premiers événements fut le "Grito de Dolores". Ce mouvement était dirigé par le prêtre Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.
On considère que le premier drapeau mexicain a été présenté dans le "Grito de Dolores", mais il s'agissait en fait d'une bannière avec l'image de Notre-Dame de Guadalupe, peinte par Miguel López.
A priori c'était un tableau religieux qui faisait partie de la paroisse, mais des doutes subsistent sur la véracité du tissu utilisé, qui serait conservé au Musée National d'Histoire après sa capture lors de la bataille d'Aculco.

Le drapeau de la Vierge de Guadalupe est devenu le symbole du mouvement d'indépendance naissant. On considère que ce drapeau a également inclus plus tard le bouclier monarchique espagnol et celui de la province ecclésiastique de Michoacán.
Aussi, il aurait contenu l'expression Vive la Vierge Marie, Dame de Guadalupe! Ceci étant une version connue sous le nom de Blasón de Hidalgo.

Drapeaux d'Allende
L'indépendance du Mexique allait dans plusieurs directions. À partir de 1810, un autre symbole a émergé, connu aujourd'hui sous le nom de drapeaux jumeaux d'Allende. C'est parce qu'ils ont été introduits par Ignacio Allende, un autre des leaders de l'indépendance qui accompagnait Miguel Hidalgo.
La création de ces drapeaux s'est faite avant le début de la guerre. Sa composition était divisée en deux bannières carrées de taille égale, avec un cadre bleu foncé. Le drapeau de gauche comprenait un bouclier avec l'aigle et le cactus, étant la première manifestation de ce symbole.
Drapeau croisé
Plus précisément, cette partie du drapeau représentait l'aigle aux ailes déployées dévorant un serpent. L'animal est perché sur un cactus à quatre pattes.
À l'arrière, dans le paysage, vous pouvez élucider un ciel bleu avec des montagnes, imitant le lever du soleil. Pour la partie supérieure, préside la figure de Saint Michel, qui tient une croix dans sa main et une échelle dans l'autre.
Déjà dans la partie inférieure du drapeau gauche se trouvent deux canons, un tambour, un arc et des boulets de canon. À tout cela, il faut ajouter deux drapeaux et deux fanions. Les drapeaux ont gardé la forme d'une croix, entrecoupant les couleurs marron et blanc.
De son côté, le drapeau de droite a conservé l'image de Notre-Dame de Guadalupe. Cela a consolidé l'image de la croisade religieuse contre les Français qui avaient envahi l'Espagne, ainsi que contre le roi Fernando VII.

Drapeau X
L'autre version du drapeau jumeau d'Allende a conservé les mêmes symboles. La seule différence avec l'autre était que les drapeaux inclus dans la partie droite avaient la forme d'un X, au lieu d'une croix.

Conseil d'administration de Zitácuaro
Le mouvement indépendantiste a continué de faire muter son territoire et ses dirigeants. La plus grande responsabilité est tombée entre les mains d'Ignacio López Rayón. En 1811, à Zitácuaro, le Conseil national suprême américain a été fondé, également connu sous le nom de Conseil du gouvernement suprême d'Amérique. En raison de la ville où elle a été fondée, elle était connue sous le nom de Junta de Zitácuaro.
Cette instance a déjà fait du Mexique une entité indépendante avant l'invasion française de l'Espagne. Son opération était concentrée sur l'identification d'un bouclier, qui comprenait à nouveau l'aigle mexicain.

Cependant, bien qu'elle n'ait pas été établie comme drapeau officiel, la Junta de Zitácuaro a utilisé des drapeaux. L'une d'elles portait la croix de Bourgogne en bleu clair sur fond blanc. Cela a été utilisé lors des réunions du conseil, ainsi que lors des serments. Son utilisation était également due à l'existence de groupes défendant Fernando VII au conseil d'administration.

Congrès d'Anahuac ou Chilpancingo
Plus tard, la force du mouvement indépendantiste s'est déplacée vers le sud, avec le prêtre José María Morelos à la tête. Ce clerc a commencé à mener des batailles réussies avec son armée.
Après plus d'un an de victoires, il forma le Congrès d'Anáhuac, également connu sous le nom de Congrès de Chilpancingo en 1813. Les députés des provinces mexicaines y furent invités et signèrent l'Acte d'indépendance nord-américain.
Ainsi, le Mexique a été établi pour la première fois en tant que pays indépendant. Le cadre juridique était la soi-disant Constitution d'Apatzingán. En 1815, ce congrès a publié deux décrets, dans lesquels le pays indépendant s'appelle déjà le Mexique. Ils ont établi trois drapeaux pour identifier le pays: guerre, parlementaire et commerce.
Drapeau de guerre national
Le drapeau principal approuvé par le congrès était connu sous le nom de drapeau de guerre. C'était un champ en damier avec des carrés bleu clair et blancs entrecoupés.
La bordure du drapeau était rouge et dans la partie centrale, un ovale incorporait le grand sceau de la nation. Il a conservé de nombreuses caractéristiques de la Junta de Zitácuaro et des drapeaux Allende, car il avait l'aigle sur le cactus et avait des bannières et des armes telles que des canons.
Le drapeau de guerre est devenu au fil du temps un drapeau à usage général et le principal symbole du Mexique.

Drapeau parlementaire
L'autre symbole approuvé par le Congrès était connu sous le nom de drapeau parlementaire. Dans ce cas, une forme carrée a été imposée, avec une bordure bleu clair. Le fond était blanc et dans la partie centrale il y avait un bouquet d'olive accompagné d'une couronne de laurier. Les deux étaient reliés par une épée disposée horizontalement.

Drapeau commercial
Enfin, le troisième symbole approuvé par le Congrès était connu sous le nom de drapeau commercial. Dans ce cas, la forme carrée a de nouveau été adoptée avec un cadre blanc et un fond bleu clair, sur lesquels une croix blanche a été imposée. Un fanion horizontal et allongé des mêmes couleurs que l'insigne a été incorporé au sommet du mât.

Ces drapeaux sont restés en vigueur jusqu'à la défaite de Morelos, à la bataille de Temalaca. Le roi Fernando VII regagna le trône d'Espagne et envoya des troupes au Mexique pour réprimer la révolution, qui se termina par l'exécution de Morelos à Ecatepec en décembre 1815.
Montée du tricolore
Le tricolore mexicain a commencé à émerger dans le déclin de la brève période d'indépendance dominée par Morelos. À cette époque, le premier tricolore qui a émergé provenait de différentes armées indépendantistes. L'un d'eux s'appelait le drapeau Siera, levé par l'armée de Nicolás Bravo.
Ce symbole est le premier connu avec les couleurs nationales. Dans la bande centrale, il a incorporé un symbole où ils combinent un arc et une flèche avec une épée.

Plus tard, le soi-disant drapeau des vétérans du bataillon Patria a émergé. Ces forces sont dirigées par Valeriano Trujillo à partir de 1810. Pour sa création, il prend les trois couleurs et, dans la partie centrale, il incorpore le bouclier avec l'aigle sur le nopal. C'était la première fois que les deux symboles figuraient ensemble sur un drapeau.
Dans ce cas, l'aigle était sur une pierre au-dessus du lac Texcoco. Sur les côtés, des drapeaux ont été ajoutés, et sur le dessus, un soleil levant et un bonnet phrygien. La présentation de ce pavillon était autrefois de forme carrée.

Armée Trigarante
Après l'exécution de Morelos, les armées indépendantistes eurent peu de succès. Seules quelques armées au nord et au sud sont restées dans le combat et le vice-roi a approuvé un pardon pour les forces insurgées que le chef militaire, Vicente Guerrero, a rejeté avec la phrase La Patria Es Primero.
La situation a également changé en Espagne, avec le triennat libéral qui a mis fin à l'absolutisme de la monarchie en 1820. Auparavant, la Constitution de Cadix ou "La Pepa" avait été approuvée, qui établissait des droits naissants à l'égalité des deux côtés de l'océan. Atlantique. Les Blancs créoles de la Nouvelle-Espagne étaient contre ces changements, ils ont donc pris le parti de l'indépendance.
Le chef des insurrections était Agustín de Iturbide. Avec Vicente Guerrero, il a promulgué le Plan d'Iguala en 1821. Cet acte a de nouveau établi l'indépendance du Mexique, mais l'a laissé comme une monarchie, qui devrait être dirigée par le roi espagnol Fernando VII ou quelqu'un d'autre de sa dynastie. L'objectif était de maintenir la religion, l'indépendance et l'union, qui devint la devise de l'armée Trigarante d'Agustín de Iturbide.
Drapeau Trigarante
Le leader politique espagnol en Nouvelle-Espagne, Juan O'Donojú, signa avec Iturbide les Traités de Cordoue, qui étaient une extension du Plan d'Iguala en septembre 1821. Ceux-ci reconnurent l'indépendance du Mexique. Cependant, le gouvernement espagnol a rejeté cet acte, bien qu'il ne l'ait pas combattu au début.
Les forces dirigées par Iturbide dans l'armée Trigarante ont agité le drapeau Trigarante. Cette armée s'est jointe à la défense du Plan d'Iguala et son drapeau a été créé par Iturbide lui-même et fabriqué par le tailleur José Ocampo.
Sa forme était carrée et il était divisé en trois bandes diagonales de même taille, en blanc, vert et rouge. Dans chacun d'eux, il gardait une étoile à six branches, des trois mêmes couleurs, mais inversée.
Au centre, dans un ovale blanc, une couronne impériale a été ajoutée avec les insignes RELIGIÓN, YNDEPEND, UNIÓN, REGIMIENTO YNFANTERIA.

- Premier Empire mexicain
En l'absence de nomination d'un dirigeant espagnol et de la recherche inefficace d'un prince européen pour gouverner le Mexique, Agustín de Iturbide a assumé la régence du trône.
Le roi d'Espagne a répondu qu'il n'assumerait pas le trône parce qu'il ne reconnaissait pas l'indépendance du Mexique. Cela a conduit au congrès couronnant Iturbide comme empereur en mai 1822, avec le titre d'Agustín I.
La durée de l'Empire mexicain fut de courte durée, six mois seulement. Les problèmes économiques étaient graves, et la conspiration d'Antonio López de Santa Anna et de son ancien allié Vicente Guerrero dans le plan Casa Mata a mis fin à la monarchie de courte durée dans un mouvement militaire, avant lequel Iturbide a dû s'exiler. Ce mouvement impliquait la séparation des provinces d'Amérique centrale.

L'Empire mexicain de 1821 a établi un nouveau drapeau, qui a gardé le drapeau tricolore. Avant le couronnement d'Agustín de Iturbide, le Congrès Constituant de l'Empire a décrété les caractéristiques du drapeau et du bouclier. Les trois bandes étaient verticales de la même taille. Au centre de la cible, le bouclier a été ajouté.
Là encore, le bouclier a pris en compte l'aigle qui se perche sur un cactus au-dessus du lagon. Cependant, la plus grande différence est qu'il ne mange pas de serpent. En outre, l'aigle tenait une couronne impériale.

- Première République mexicaine
En 1823, la nouvelle République mexicaine était déjà un fait. En 1824 et après un gouvernement provisoire, le Congrès Constituant promulgue la nouvelle constitution républicaine.
Depuis lors, une république fédérale a été créée avec sa capitale à Mexico. Tout au long de cette période, des personnages comme Antonio López de Santa Anna ont été décisifs, occupant la présidence à plusieurs reprises et faisant toujours face aux puissances espagnoles.
La plus grande tirade de cette première période a eu lieu entre libéraux et conservateurs. Les libéraux voulaient réformer l'État, mais Santa Anna, avec son retour à la présidence avec le soutien des conservateurs, l'a empêché.
Une constitution centraliste en 1843 a engendré l'indépendance de plusieurs États pendant quelques années. La faiblesse de cet État favorisa une invasion américaine entre 1846 et 1848.
Le conflit a fini par priver le Mexique de plus de la moitié de son territoire. Au fur et à mesure de son développement, les libéraux ont pris le pouvoir et ont réhabilité la constitution de 1824, qui a établi une république fédérale.
Après la guerre avec les États-Unis, le Mexique s'est retrouvé dans une position très faible. Santa Anna est revenue à la présidence des années plus tard et s'est proclamée dictatrice.
Drapeaux de la première République mexicaine
Depuis 1823, le premier drapeau de la République mexicaine a été approuvé. Encore une fois, le schéma de trois bandes verticales a été maintenu, changeant le bouclier. La différence consistait en la suppression de la couronne impériale et l'ajout du serpent qui dévore l'aigle. De plus, un bouquet de chêne et de laurier a été ajouté par-dessus.
En principe, ce fut le drapeau officiel jusqu'en 1879, à l'exception du Second Empire mexicain. Cependant, il n'y avait pas de modèle unique du drapeau, c'était donc une création populaire assez plurielle au fil des ans.

Au lieu de cela, le drapeau utilisé par les conservateurs a gardé le même aigle, mais avec un profil à droite.

- Second Empire mexicain
Après la proclamation de Santa Anna comme dictateur, les libéraux ont mené la révolution d'Ayutla qui l'a contraint à l'exil. Compte tenu de cela, les lois de réforme ont été créées qui séparaient l'État de l'Église. Benito Juárez est devenu le premier président indigène du Mexique et son gouvernement a fait face à une guerre avec les conservateurs, qui s'est terminée par la victoire du président Juárez en 1861.
Le gouvernement de Benito Juárez a assumé la suspension des paiements de sa dette extérieure en raison de l'impossibilité de paiement. Cela a généré des pressions de la France, de l'Espagne et de l'Angleterre.
L'armée française, dirigée par Napoléon III, commence à attaquer militairement le Mexique en 1863. Cette situation motive le transfert du gouvernement mexicain à San Luis Potosí puis à Paso del Norte, tandis que les Français prennent Mexico.
C'est ainsi qu'est né le Second Empire mexicain. Napoléon III voulait renforcer sa présence au Mexique pour affaiblir les États-Unis, confrontés à la guerre civile. Une régence assuma le gouvernement jusqu'à l'arrivée de l'empereur Maximiliano de Habsbourg, archiduc d'Autriche qui avait accepté le poste d'empereur qu'ils lui offraient.

L'Empire mexicain dirigé par Maximilien de Habsbourg ne dura que jusqu'en 1867. Finalement, l'empereur fut fusillé et les Français durent se retirer. Dans son mandat, un nouveau drapeau impérial du Mexique a été utilisé. Cela a conservé les trois bandes verticales, mais a changé le bouclier pour les armes royales.
À partir de 1863, la Régence a changé le bouclier en un bouclier impérial. En tout cas, il n'est entré dans le drapeau qu'à l'arrivée de Maximilien Ier, avec un décret en juin 1864.
Cependant, un peu plus d'un an plus tard, en novembre 1865, un nouveau décret fut publié établissant divers drapeaux: drapeau impérial, drapeau de guerre, drapeau national, marchand, corps d'armée et fanion de la marine.
Le drapeau national était composé du même drapeau tricolore, mais avec les armoiries royales de Maximilien Ier, avec des bords dorés, une couronne et un ruban avec la devise Equity in justice. Il convient de noter que ce drapeau a partagé la vedette avec d'autres.

Le pavillon impérial était également connu, bien qu'il ne soit utilisé qu'en présence des empereurs. Leur différence était que l'aigle impérial d'or a été ajouté aux quatre coins.

- Porfiriato
La fin de l'empire mexicain dirigé par Maximiliano de Habsburgo impliqua la restauration de la république dirigée par Benito Juárez, qui continua de gouverner jusqu'à sa mort en 1872. Son gouvernement provoqua des divisions et, en 1871, Juárez dut affronter d'autres candidats libéraux aux élections.
Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada a assumé la présidence à la mort de Juárez, mais en tentant d'être réélu, l'ancien candidat Porfirio Díaz l'a vaincu lors d'un soulèvement. La succession présidentielle était inconnue et Díaz a assumé la présidence, commençant le Porfiriato en 1876.
Jusqu'en 1879, le drapeau officiel établi en 1823 a continué à être utilisé. Cependant, le Mexique a vécu un demi-siècle sans avoir une réglementation claire des drapeaux. Porfirio Díaz, après avoir pris le pouvoir, a tenté de normaliser l'utilisation des drapeaux et des boucliers.
L'ordre du gouvernement Porfirio Díaz consistait à reprendre le drapeau de 1823, avec ce bouclier. Cependant, il n'y avait pas de modèle du bouclier à cette époque, avant lequel l'artiste Tomás de la Peña devait créer un nouveau modèle, qui était de type francisé.

Plus tard, en 1898, une autre conception a émergé, de style germanique, réalisée par Juan de Dios Fernández. L'aigle est devenu connu sous le nom d'aigle du centenaire.

- Révolution méxicaine
Le Porfiriato a été la plus longue période de gouvernement dirigé par une seule personne dans l'histoire du Mexique. Porfirio Díaz a été successivement réélu sous un régime autoritaire ouvert au commerce international. Sa réélection se poursuivit jusqu'en 1910, élections au cours desquelles Díaz avait annoncé qu'il ne se présenterait pas.
Mais rompant sa parole, Porfirio s'est lancé dans la bataille électorale. Francisco Madero, son principal adversaire, a été emprisonné et Díaz a remporté les élections sans résistance. Plus tard, Madero s'est évadé de prison et des États-Unis a proclamé le Plan de San Luis en 1910, déclenchant la Révolution mexicaine. L'année suivante, et avant la perte du pouvoir, Díaz abandonna le pouvoir et partit en exil.
Madero a été élu président en 1911, mais d'autres dirigeants comme Emiliano Zapata et Pascual Orozco se sont rapidement soulevés. En 1913, il y eut un coup d'État qui se termina par l'assassinat de Madero et la prise du pouvoir par Victoriano Huerta.
D'autres dirigeants révolutionnaires tels que Venustiano Carranza et Pancho Villa se sont soulevés contre Huerta, qui a dû abandonner le pouvoir l'année suivante. Francisco Carvajal a assumé la présidence intérimaire.

L'armée constitutionnaliste de Venustiano Carranza s'est imposée dans le pays. Au début, il n'utilisait que les drapeaux Porfirista, ils ne pouvaient donc pas être distingués des autres troupes. Étant donné que, en 1916, il a modifié le bouclier, y compris celui présent sur le drapeau.
La position de l'aigle a complètement changé, alors qu'il tournait son profil et tournait son regard vers la gauche. Cette position de l'aigle tient toujours. De cette façon, l'image du bouclier a commencé à s'unifier.

- Maximato et le gouvernement de Cárdenas
La Révolution mexicaine poursuit son cours et le drapeau acquiert le pouvoir national avec l'arrivée de Carranza au pouvoir en 1917. Les années suivantes suivent les assassinats de dirigeants politiques, comme Emiliano Zapata, Pancho Villa ou Carranza lui-même.
Sous le mandat de Carranza, la constitution de 1917 a été approuvée, qui est toujours en vigueur et a consommé les revendications sociales pendant la révolution mexicaine. En 1924, Plutarco Elías Calles, fondateur du Partido Nacional Revolucionario, le premier prédécesseur de l'actuel PRI, prend ses fonctions. Calles a occupé le poste de chef maximum de la révolution mexicaine, par conséquent, sans être président, il a continué à détenir le pouvoir dans une période connue sous le nom de Maximato.
Le pouvoir de Calles est resté jusqu'à l'élection de Lázaro Cárdenas del Río comme président en 1934. Cárdenas a dirigé un gouvernement populaire qui a nationalisé l'industrie pétrolière, a accordé des droits aux travailleurs et a réorganisé le Parti Révolutionnaire National en Parti de la Révolution Mexicaine.
Au cours du mandat de six ans suivant, Miguel Alemán a été élu premier président civil après la Révolution. A cette occasion, il l'a fait au nom du Parti Révolutionnaire Institutionnel (PRI), qui est toujours l'un des principaux partis politiques au Mexique.

Encore une fois, le drapeau a rencontré des difficultés, et le gouvernement a essayé de le promouvoir en instaurant un Jour du drapeau. Le symbole national a continué sans proportions claires et avec des divergences dans la conception du bouclier.
Depuis 1934, un drapeau a été popularisé où l'aigle était complètement enfermé dans une couronne circulaire de feuilles. D'autres drapeaux ont remplacé cette couronne de feuilles par l'inscription États-Unis mexicains.

Une autre version a également circulé avec la couronne des deux branches de feuilles en bas. Sa limite est venue avant le milieu de la couronne. Le dessin correspondait à Jorge Enciso, et c'est devenu au fil du temps le plus courant.

- Drapeau actuel
Les gouvernements du Parti révolutionnaire institutionnel (PRI) ont duré de nombreuses décennies, pratiquement jusqu'en 2000. Pendant le mandat du président Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, le dernier changement a été apporté au drapeau national jusqu'à ce qu'il atteigne le symbole qui reste aujourd'hui. Le 23 décembre 1967, une loi a été adoptée pour réglementer les symboles nationaux.
Le modèle de bouclier de 1934 a été maintenu, bien qu'il ait incorporé des changements dirigés par les architectes Francisco Eppens et Pedro Moctezuma Díaz. L'existence du bouclier signifiait qu'il devait être ajouté plus tard de chaque côté du tissu où il était fabriqué, pour maintenir son image des deux côtés. Ce n'est qu'en 1995 que cela a changé, les drapeaux montrant un revers de leur composition d'origine.

Signification du drapeau
La combinaison de couleurs du drapeau mexicain avait une origine inachevée. Bien que pour beaucoup, l'origine était dans le drapeau de l'armée Trigarante d'Agustín de Iturbide, les drapeaux des armées insurgées du sud du Mexique, comme le drapeau Siera, étaient plus anciens. Cependant, cette origine n'était à aucun moment liée aux couleurs du drapeau et à sa signification éventuelle.
Populairement, l'armée Trigarante était liée aux couleurs du drapeau et à une signification possible. Les objectifs de cette armée étaient la préservation de la religion catholique, l'indépendance du Mexique et l'union entre les Européens et les Américains qui garantiraient le bonheur du peuple de la Nouvelle-Espagne.
Par conséquent, le blanc est lié à la religion catholique, le rouge à l'union entre les deux continents et le vert à l'indépendance du pays. Cependant, ces significations n'ont jamais été officielles, tant d'autres ont émergé.
D'autres qui sont devenus populaires étaient pendant le gouvernement libéral et laïc de Benito Juárez. On supposait en eux que le vert représentait l'espoir, l'unité blanche et le rouge le sang versé par les héros indépendantistes pour la liberté mexicaine.
Signification du bouclier
Sans aucun doute, les armoiries du Mexique sont l'élément le plus frappant du drapeau. L'histoire qui montre le bouclier mexicain est le mythe fondateur des colonies mexicaines dans la vallée du Mexique, de sorte que le bouclier est un échantillon de l'origine du pays.
Plus précisément, l'existence d'une «terre promise» qui a été choisie là où l'aigle a dévoré le serpent sur le cactus, ce qui confère au Mexique une catégorie mythique.
