Les fonctions de communication les plus importantes sont d'informer, d'enseigner, d'exprimer, de contrôler, de servir de plate-forme pour les relations sociales et d'éviter la confusion et les malentendus.
La communication est un processus complexe où les informations sont constamment échangées entre deux ou plusieurs personnes.
L'une des personnes impliquées transmet un message dans un code via un canal ou un support, et l'autre impliquée reçoit le message et répond en répétant le même cycle.
Tout cela se passe dans un contexte où les personnes impliquées sont immergées et connaissent, de préférence, la plate-forme théorique ou conceptuelle de ce qui est communiqué.
La communication peut être verbale ou orale, en utilisant des langues parlées, des dialectes ou des codes et oblige le destinataire à écouter le message. D'autre part, il y a communication écrite, qui nécessite l'émission du message à l'aide de symboles compréhensibles entre les personnes impliquées.
Il existe également un autre type de communication comme le langage corporel où les expressions faciales sont incluses. Les canaux ou modes de transmission sont nombreux et sont déterminés à la fois par les 5 sens et par les technologies disponibles.
Il peut être en personne (conversation en face à face, séminaires et cours), visuel (photos, peintures, livres, textes écrits en général), auditif (musique, notes vocales, radio, livres audio), audiovisuel (vidéos, télévision, cinéma), entre autres.
Tous ces éléments sont interdépendants dans le processus de communication quotidien et finissent par remplir de nombreuses fonctions au sein de l'interaction humaine dans la société.
Liste des fonctions assurées par la communication
Dans l'interaction humaine directe et indirecte, les fonctions de communication se chevauchent et se mélangent fréquemment.
Cette classification sépare les fonctions par la différence du but ou de l'objectif final du processus de communication.
1.- Fonction de rapport
La transmission d'informations d'une personne à une autre est la fonction principale de la communication.
L'adaptation et l'ajustement des personnes à différents environnements sociaux tout au long de la vie dépendent totalement des informations communiquées de différentes manières, types, moyens, etc.
Pour une prise de décision et une résolution de problèmes efficaces, toutes les informations disponibles sont nécessaires. Le processus de transmission et de réception d'informations est intégré, directement ou indirectement, dans toutes les autres fonctions de communication.
Selon le type d'information, l'objectif et d'autres éléments, la fonction de communication varie plus ou moins, mais ce qui est transmis sera toujours considéré comme une «information».
2.- Fonction d'expression
Chaque être humain a besoin de communiquer ses émotions, ses sentiments, ses besoins et ses opinions. Un bébé communique presque toujours en pleurant quand il a besoin de quelque chose ou se sent mal à l'aise, car à ce moment-là, c'est le seul moyen dont il dispose pour transmettre des informations.
Avec l'apprentissage des types de langue tout au long de la croissance, il est possible de réguler tous ces besoins expressifs dans les bons contextes, réalisant ainsi un processus de communication sain et efficace.
Montrer de l'affection envers les autres fait également partie de cette fonction de communication, également l'expression de l'identité personnelle.
À des niveaux communicatifs plus complexes, esthétiques et abstraits, les arts sont des moyens d'expression humaine.
3.- Fonction persuasive
Dans toute transmission d'informations, un changement, une action ou un comportement est toujours attendu en réponse (souhaité ou non).
Certaines études affirment même que le but de la communication est simplement d'influencer / influencer les personnes ou les milieux sociaux.
Exprimer quelque chose dans le but d'inciter un autre individu à agir d'une manière ou d'une autre est le quotidien de l'interaction humaine. Les exemples suivants illustrent facilement le rôle persuasif de la communication:
-Un enfant qui demande des bonbons attend que ses parents lui donnent des bonbons.
-Une fille serrée dans le cinéma attend que le garçon la serre dans ses bras ou lui donne sa veste.
-Les commerciaux et la publicité veulent que les gens achètent leurs produits.
4.- Fonction d'instruction ou de commande
Cet objectif est similaire au précédent, mais diffère en ce que la réponse souhaitée est beaucoup plus claire ou plus précise. Par conséquent, les informations et le caractère du message sont plus concrets et impératifs.
En ce sens, l'action, le comportement ou le changement chez les personnes sont censés être comme on le demande. Dans certains cas, on sait qu'il y a des conséquences à un certain niveau si la réponse attendue n'est pas obtenue.
Généralement, l'émission est donnée par une sorte de hiérarchie ou de relation d'autorité telle qu'un patron ou un dirigeant, des enseignants, des parents plus âgés, des experts dans un certain domaine, des policiers, des juges, des personnalités gouvernementales, entre autres.
Des textes tels que manuels, livres de cuisine, normes et lois sont également considérés comme un moyen de communiquer des commandes ou des instructions.
5.- Fonction de régulation ou de contrôle
Il s'agit d'une combinaison des fonctions de persuasion et de commandement.
Ils sont plus couramment utilisés au sein d'équipes de travail, d'organisations et de groupes de personnes, où une coexistence et une interaction saines entre les personnes impliquées sont nécessaires pour atteindre les objectifs fixés.
La réponse attendue ici est principalement une coopération consciente entre tous. Le but est de réguler le comportement en utilisant des commandes et des instructions claires mais subtiles, et des stratégies de gestion de groupe qui cherchent à persuader plutôt qu'à commander.
6.- Fonction d'intégration ou de relation sociale
L'un des plus grands objectifs de la communication humaine dans la société est peut-être la recherche de l'acceptation, de la reconnaissance et de l'identification par les autres.
Grâce à l'interaction interpersonnelle, il est possible de communiquer aux autres ce que nous sommes, ressentons et avons besoin.
Le processus de donner et de recevoir des informations dans une conversation, où tous les types de communication entrent en jeu, est essentiel pour une compréhension saine, créant des conventions de traitement, de respect et de lien entre les individus.
7.- Évitez et corrigez les malentendus
Cette fonction peut sembler redondante à première vue, mais elle est beaucoup plus complexe qu'il n'y paraît.
Une mauvaise communication peut entraîner des problèmes très graves, tels que la rupture d'un partenaire, un empoisonnement suite à l'ingestion de médicaments ou un accident d'avion.
Tout processus de communication est exposé à la confusion et aux malentendus, qui en théorie ne sont rien de plus qu'un processus de communication inefficace ou incomplet.
Cela peut entraîner une gêne et des inconvénients qui finissent également par obstruer le processus.
L'expression d'idées, d'informations ou de commandes ne sont pas toujours comprises exactement telles qu'elles ont été transmises. Ne pas recevoir la réponse souhaitée peut être le produit d'un manque de compréhension du message.
De nombreuses variables sont impliquées dans l'interaction humaine et elles se multiplient de manière exponentielle à mesure que de plus en plus de personnes et d'éléments sont ajoutés. Savoir exactement ce qui se passe dans le processus permet d'éviter toute confusion.
Répéter le processus de communication et améliorer (ou clarifier) les éléments qui ont peut-être échoué est la seule solution; comme le code ou la langue, les conventions de sens, les relations personnelles, les subjectivités individuelles, le canal ou le support, entre autres.
