L' h istoire de l' État de Miranda est étroitement liée à l'histoire de Caracas, dans le cadre formé à l' origine de la province du Venezuela (également appelée Province de Caracas).
Par conséquent, son histoire comprend de nombreux changements dans son organisation territoriale et sa structure politique. L'État de Miranda a été le théâtre de grandes guerres entre les indigènes et les espagnols, car les indigènes ont refusé d'accepter la domination de la couronne espagnole et ont décidé de se battre pour leur territoire et pour leur liberté.

Une fois que Diego de Losada a vaincu Cacique Guaicaipuro, il a pu prendre possession des terres habitées par les tribus indigènes Teques et Caracas.
La ville de Caracas a été fondée dans cette région et peu de temps après, des villes ont été fondées dans les environs.
Ainsi, la soi-disant Province du Venezuela (Province de Caracas) a été formée, qui était composée des États de Falcón, Lara, Yaracuy, Portuguesa, Guárico, Cojedes, Aragua, Vargas, Capital District et Miranda.

Comme cette région représentait un point important pour la Province du Venezuela, avec le temps, ses habitants ont créé divers hameaux qui deviendraient plus tard des villes.
C'est ainsi qu'à partir de 1772, un hameau situé dans ce qu'on appelle aujourd'hui Los Teques a commencé à s'agrandir.
Cela a causé une conséquence; Le 21 octobre 1777, la ville de Los Teques a été fondée par Mgr Mariano Martí.
Massacre pendant la guerre d'indépendance
L'État de Miranda n'était pas étranger aux luttes d'indépendance et a été le théâtre de l'un des plus grands massacres de l'histoire du Venezuela.
Le massacre d'Ocumare del Tuy a été dirigé par Francisco Rosete et a eu lieu du 11 au 13 février 1814.
Au cours de ces jours, ils ont assassiné les habitants non armés d'Ocumare del Tuy, qui s'étaient réfugiés à la fois dans les montagnes et dans l'Église.
