L' histoire des robots a commencé beaucoup plus tôt qu'on ne le pense habituellement; Depuis la Grèce antique, les philosophes les plus renommés ont commencé à émerger la possibilité de créer des artefacts ou des gadgets qui remplaceraient le travail humain, en particulier dans les activités liées au nettoyage des fermes et à la culture de la nourriture.
Le maître Léonard de Vinci avait également fait des théories et des traités sur la possibilité de l'existence de ces machines. Le premier nom qui a été donné à ce que l'on appelle aujourd'hui les robots était «humanoïde», car ils étaient inspirés par la forme humaine.
Un autre terme nécessaire pour comprendre le début des robots et de la discipline robotique est «automate», qui signifie en grec «avec son propre mouvement» ou «spontané». Ce mot définit une machine dont le but est d'imiter non seulement les mouvements, mais aussi la figure d'un être animé; Cela peut avoir des similitudes avec la forme humaine ou avec un autre être vivant.
On considère que Da Vinci a conçu deux automates au cours de sa carrière artistique et inventive: le premier consistait en une sorte de soldat en armure; il avait la capacité de bouger et de s'asseoir tout seul. L'autre automate, de conception plus complexe, était une sorte de lion qui devait être utilisé par le roi pour établir ses traités de paix.

Quant au terme «robot», il a été inventé à partir du mot tchécoslovaque robota, qui signifie «travail forcé». La première fois que cette définition est apparue, c'était dans un roman intitulé RUR, écrit par l'écrivain tchèque Karl Capek.
Cet ouvrage a été publié en 1920, et son intrigue se développe autour de l'existence de machines très semblables à l'homme et qui ont la capacité d'effectuer des travaux difficiles, voire dangereux; à la fin du texte, les robots finissent par conquérir les espaces humains, dominant également l'homme.
Malgré le fait que la fiction a été responsable de créer des préjugés sur les machines - que ce soit dans la littérature ou dans l'industrie cinématographique -, de nombreux scientifiques et universitaires optent pour la robotique, car l'un de ses principaux objectifs est de faciliter le travail humain., en particulier ceux qui sont plus aliénants et fastidieux.

Non seulement les Grecs et la Renaissance étaient intéressés par la création de ce type de machines. Des personnalités comme Newton et Descartes ont également eu l'idée qu'au moyen d'une machine, il serait possible de libérer l'homme des activités routinières et monotones.
Ces scientifiques pensaient que la machine idéale réussirait à résoudre des problèmes mathématiques, car ils soutenaient que l'homme, étant une créature créative et universelle, ne devrait pas avoir la tâche de s'esclaver dans la solution répétitive et méthodique de problèmes mathématiques.
En conséquence, l'homme pourrait éventuellement mieux utiliser son potentiel intellectuel, se détachant de la nécessité de trouver de telles solutions.
Il est probable que l'idéal de ces chercheurs ait été celui qui s'est matérialisé avec les ordinateurs actuels, car ils ont la capacité de résoudre des problèmes mathématiques de cette nature.
La famille de l'horloger
Certains historiens et chroniqueurs considèrent que cette classe d'appareils est apparue au XVIe siècle - bien que d'autres assurent que les origines de ces machines sont bien plus anciennes -, notamment à la cour de Louis XV de France.
On dit qu'à cette époque un célèbre horloger avait perdu toute sa famille, il a donc pris la décision de la remplacer en créant des poupées mécaniques qui fonctionnaient grâce à un système d'engrenage (comme une montre), mais beaucoup plus compliqué et élaboré.
Ces machines ont eu un grand impact dans la France de l'époque, alors le roi Louis XV a décidé de commander à l'horloger certains de ces appareils; Cependant, le but de ces poupées était un simple divertissement, donc ces premiers robots n'étaient que décoratifs.
Après cela, la référence historique suivante sur les mécanismes de ce type s'est produite pendant la révolution industrielle, lorsque différentes machines ont commencé à apparaître qui ont complètement changé le cours de l'économie et des systèmes de travail.
Le premier robot industriel
Grâce à l'utilisation d'engrenages et de machines à vapeur, il a été possible de réaliser l'automatisation des activités de production. Vous pouvez établir la naissance des robots à cette époque, sous une conception industrielle.
En fait, l'une des premières définitions de ce type d'artefact consistait en une machine qui a la capacité d'effectuer à plusieurs reprises différentes activités, sans avoir à être supervisée par l'œil humain.
Agitation au travail
Lorsque la machinerie industrielle est apparue, il y a eu un fort changement dans la sphère sociale, qui a apporté des aspects positifs et négatifs; lorsque l'homme a été remplacé par la machine, des centaines de personnes ont perdu leur emploi, notamment dans l'industrie textile.
Pour cette raison, il existe encore une inquiétude latente concernant le mouvement de l'homme par la machine. Cependant, ces machines nécessitaient une maintenance particulière, car leurs systèmes étaient très primitifs. Lorsqu'elles ont commencé à s'effondrer, les industries ont dû réembaucher.
Cela montre que, malgré les avancées technologiques, la présence humaine sera toujours essentielle pour le bon développement des entreprises, car les machines nécessitent un balayage constant et plusieurs révisions.
Par conséquent, il est possible que de nouveaux emplois soient créés pour les humains à mesure que de nouveaux robots apparaissent.
Emergence de l'informatique
Avec le développement de l'informatique, il a été possible de mettre en œuvre de nouveaux systèmes qui améliorent la qualité de la discipline robotique. Dans les années 1960, un espace de création et d'innovation a été ouvert, ce qui a également permis l'expansion des emplois des robots dans la vie quotidienne.
L'apparition des bras mécaniques
Grâce au développement de la technologie, il a été possible de fabriquer une série de machines avec une plus grande mobilité grâce à des mécanismes plus complexes. Par conséquent, la plage de puissance a été élargie et la consommation d'énergie réduite.
À partir de ce moment, les robots pourraient être contrôlés grâce à l'utilisation d'ordinateurs, ce qui a entraîné l'apparition de bras mécaniques, qui fonctionnent grâce à des impulsions électriques précédemment codées.
En raison de l'émergence de cette machinerie beaucoup plus complexe, une nouvelle définition des robots a émergé.
À l'heure actuelle, un robot peut être défini comme une union de systèmes avec des éléments électroniques et mécaniques qui peuvent interagir les uns avec les autres, lui permettant d'effectuer une tâche spécifique; cette activité est attribuée et contrôlée à partir d'un ordinateur.
L'influence de George Devol
Compte tenu de ces caractéristiques, on peut établir que le premier robot industriel proprement dit est né avec George Devol, un inventeur de nationalité américaine à qui on attribue la création de ce premier robot.
L'objectif de Devol était de construire une machine qui pourrait être flexible et s'adapter à l'environnement; en outre, il était essentiel qu'il soit facile à utiliser. En 1948, cet inventeur a breveté un manipulateur programmable, qui a ensuite été considéré comme le premier robot industriel.
Devol, avec son partenaire Joseph Engelberger, a décidé de fonder la première entreprise à fabriquer des robots. Cela s'appelait Consolidated Controls Corporation et a commencé ses activités en 1956. Plus tard, le nom de la société a été changé en Unimation.
George Devol
C'est alors que le premier bras robotique a émergé, qu'ils ont appelé Unimate. Cette machine pesait 1800 kg et sa fonction était de soulever et de conglomérer un tas d'énormes morceaux de métal chaud.
Les robots aujourd'hui
Actuellement, il n'existe pas de type unique de robot, mais on peut trouver une large gamme de machines dont les objectifs ne sont pas seulement industriels, mais ont également pour objectif d'améliorer la qualité de la vie humaine dans les aspects les plus quotidiens.
En 1969, le terme robot ou robotique a été étendu à la mécatronique, qui fait référence à une intégration de l'ingénierie mécanique avec l'ingénierie électronique et artificielle.
L'invention la plus pertinente en robotique est l'inclusion de l'intelligence artificielle, dont l'objectif est de donner aux machines la capacité de répondre à différents stimuli.

Automates avec capacité de raisonnement
De nos jours, on peut voir des robots qui ont la capacité de réagir aux particularités de l'environnement, ainsi que des capteurs qui leur permettent d'interagir avec leur environnement et avec les êtres vivants. Cela permet aux activités effectuées par les robots d'être exécutées plus efficacement.
De même, l'un des objectifs de la discipline robotique pour cette décennie est que ces machines ressemblent de plus en plus à des êtres humains en termes de forme, reprenant ainsi les idées des anciens penseurs sur l'automate.
De plus, les scientifiques souhaitent mettre en œuvre des capacités de raisonnement et de questionnement dans ces robots.
