Le bouclier de Tlaxcala a une zone centrale en rouge avec un château à l'intérieur et une bordure qui le borde où se trouvent d'autres symboles tels que les lettres I, K et F, des couronnes et des crânes. De plus, il a deux paumes, une sur le côté gauche et une sur le côté droit.
Le bouclier de Tlaxcala a été demandé à la couronne espagnole, en 1535, par le gouverneur de la ville de l'époque Diego Maxixcatzin.

Le roi d'Espagne a répondu par un décret royal définissant la composition des premières armoiries de Tlaxcala.
Tlaxcala est l'État avec la plus petite dimension territoriale de tous les États-Unis mexicains. Il est situé dans la zone centrale du Mexique, près du district fédéral.

La capitale de l'État est la ville qui porte le même nom que l'État, Tlaxcala, mais sa ville la plus peuplée est San Pablo del Monte.

Dans la partie supérieure, trois lettres sont inscrites ainsi que deux couronnes. La lettre I correspond au nom de Doña Juana I de Castille, mère de Carlos V, qui était le roi qui a fait avancer la colonisation de l'Amérique et du Mexique.
Juana I de Castille était connue sous le nom de Juan la Loca, car elle a transporté le cadavre de son mari dans toute l'Espagne pendant des mois et a demandé que les mêmes révérences soient faites au cadavre qui lui avaient été faites.
La lettre K fait référence au roi Carlos V, qui a accordé le décret royal pour la création du bouclier. La lettre F est pour le roi Felipe II, fils de Carlos V, qui a nommé Tlaxcala comme noble et loyal.
Les deux couronnes font référence aux origines réelles de chacun des personnages dont les initiales sont inscrites sur l'écu.
2) Le château d'or
Au milieu du bouclier repose un château doré aux fenêtres bleues.
Le bâtiment royal symbolise la puissance et la force de la couronne espagnole et sa couleur dorée ressemble à l'or en allusion à la grandeur et à la sagesse. Les fenêtres bleues font référence au ciel.

Au-dessus du château doré est hissé un drapeau doré avec un aigle noir au milieu.
Cela fait référence à ce qui est maintenant connu comme faisant partie de la culture allemande par le Saint Empire romain-germanique de l'époque.
4) Crânes et paumes
En bas sont dessinés deux crânes avec deux os en forme de X, superposés l'un sur l'autre.
De plus, l'une des intentions est de montrer que la couronne espagnole sera unie au-delà de la mort.
Cela se souvient des gens qui sont morts pendant le processus de colonisation du Mexique par l'Espagne et qui s'est terminé par un nombre incalculable de vies et la destruction d'une culture séculaire qui y résidait.
Les palmiers ont avec eux le sens de la victoire dans le processus de colonisation, ainsi, selon son créateur, il symbolise l'amitié et la fraternité, idéaux européens de l'époque.
