Les danses typiques de Piura ont leurs origines dans les anciennes traditions du Pérou. Ils ont tendance à utiliser des gestes corporels pour accentuer le message de la danse; pour cette raison, on pense que c'est une tradition avec une forte influence du théâtre.
Les motifs de ces danses ont à voir avec la spiritualité et les anciennes croyances. Ils font l'éloge de Mère Nature et soulignent les bienfaits qu'elle apporte à l'homme. Ils adorent également le soleil, les animaux, les rivières, la pluie et les plantes, entre autres.
Dans cette région les danses ne sont pas très abondantes, car elle est petite et moyennement habitée. Cependant, ils sont connus dans tout le Pérou.

Les 5 danses typiques de Piura
1- La parade huancabambino
Le terme «pasacalle» est originaire de l'Équateur et se définit comme la composition musicale qui accompagne une danse processionnelle. En d'autres termes, c'est la musique qui marque le rythme et le moment du voyage des danseurs.
Il est dansé par paires et n'a généralement pas de chorégraphie prévue. Les danseurs suivent le rythme de la musique et improvisent ensemble.
2- Les fileurs de huancabamba
Cette danse est célébrée lors des fêtes patronales et ressemble également à une expression théâtrale. C'est un mélange de traditions des Andes de Piura.
Il représente deux hommes ou "beaux" qui se font face, illustrant les anciens combats de couteaux ou de machettes.
Ils sont également encouragés par l'alcool et la possibilité de se faire passer pour la plus belle femme de la fête.
Les hommes et les femmes portent des costumes traditionnels. Les femmes portent même une quenouille et du fil et tissent pendant qu'elles dansent; d'où le nom de la danse.
3- Le tondero pyruvien
Cette danse est typique de la côte nord du Pérou, la côte de Piruan.
C'est une danse exécutée avec des pas piétinements et violents, qui sont liés aux tundas ou "tonderos" que les indigènes recevaient de leurs chefs.
Ces danses étaient exécutées par des esclaves noirs et indiens en secret de leurs maîtres. C'était une manifestation de mécontentement.
Les costumes de cette danse sont les vêtements traditionnels du villageois côtier: les hommes portent des shorts et les femmes portent des robes à franges.
Cette danse se danse pieds nus, pour être en contact direct avec la Terre Mère.
4- Les petits noirs de Ñari-Walac
Cette danse appartient à la culture Talán et est liée à la fête des rois.
Depuis le 5 janvier, la ville de Ñari-Walac se prépare pour les festivités. Le 6 janvier, la Bajada de los Reyes a lieu.
Les rois sont escortés sur le chemin de la ville par des danseurs déguisés en noirs.
En arrivant sur la scène située devant le sanctuaire, commence une pièce de théâtre de 2 heures qui représente l'arrivée des rois.
5- Le marin Piruana
C'est une danse qui représente la femme typique et traditionnelle de la région.
Les vêtements sont les vêtements de fête des piruanas, la musique est joyeuse et festive. Les pas de danse sont caractérisés par des claquements et des exclamations insinuantes, accompagnés d'applaudissements.
