Pour lister les différences entre une communauté et une population, il faut d'abord définir ces concepts.
Une communauté est un groupe de personnes qui vivent dans le même espace physique. Les communautés se distinguent parce qu'elles ont un fort sentiment d'appartenance à l'endroit où elles vivent.

Les populations regroupent les individus de la même espèce dans un espace donné. Les communautés regroupent des individus d'espèces différentes dans un espace donné.
Dans les populations, les individus appartiennent à la même espèce. Par exemple: la population dominicaine (de la République dominicaine) dans un pays comme les États-Unis.
Contrairement aux populations, les communautés se caractérisent par le regroupement de différentes populations dans un espace donné.
Par exemple: la communauté latino aux États-Unis qui regroupe des individus colombiens, vénézuéliens, cubains, portoricains et cubains.
2- Il existe des différences morphologiques et comportementales entre les populations et les communautés
Tous les individus d'une population sont morphologiquement similaires. Les individus d'une communauté ont des différences morphologiques et comportementales.
Poursuivant avec l'exemple mentionné ci-dessus: la population latino aux États-Unis est généralement physiquement similaire.
La communauté latino-américaine a de nombreuses différences entre elle et chaque communauté respective est unie par un sentiment d'appartenance à son pays.
Ce sentiment d'appartenance peut être représenté par la nourriture, la musique et les traditions.
3- Les populations se rapportent différemment aux communautés
Dans une population, les individus se rapportent librement. Dans une communauté, il est très difficile pour les membres d'interagir avec d'autres personnes qui ne sont pas de la même communauté.
De même, les relations qui s'établissent entre les individus d'une population sont généralement moins étroites que les relations entre les individus d'une communauté.
C'est ce sentiment d'appartenance qui permet à ces relations interpersonnelles d'être proches ou lointaines.
4- Les populations ont une taille différente de celle des communautés
Les populations sont de petites unités organisationnelles. Les communautés sont des unités organisationnelles beaucoup plus grandes. Les communautés regroupent les populations.
5- Les populations ont une répartition géographique différente de celle des communautés
La population peut être répartie dans plusieurs espaces ou lieux contrairement à la communauté qui doit s'installer à un certain endroit.
Par exemple: la population vénézuélienne est aujourd'hui dispersée dans différentes parties du monde.
C'est complètement différent de la communauté vénézuélienne aux États-Unis qui ne se trouve que dans ce pays.
